Winter 2026
Uniforms and Attendance Policy Updates
Dear Parents or Guardians,
Winter is here! Please remember that during these times, we must try our best to adhere to our dress code. We have seen an increase in students wearing clothing items to school that are not aligned with our dress code as well as an uptick in students arriving late to school. Please be reminded of the following:
ATTENDANCE/LATENESS:
Attendance is a vital part of education. Students who arrive after 8:15AM are considered late. Lateness is a factor that prevents your child from gaining the benefits of a full instructional day. Started February 2nd, Students in grades 5-8 who arrive after 8:30AM without a parent note or explanation (ex. A doctor’s appointment) will be held for reflection/seat time recovery that afternoon. This will take place from 2:25pm until 3:25pm. During this time, they will work on the content missed and/or a literacy based activity.
UNIFORM:
Students are expected to wear their uniform on a daily basis. The appropriate daily uniform is a light blue or navy blue polo shirt or any shirt that has the PSMS232 logo. This shirt is to be worn with khaki/beige or Navy Blue bottoms such as pants, skirts, shorts, leggings or joggers. Students are also expected to wear appropriate footwear especially sneakers on days that they have Physical Education. Students not wearing appropriate footwear will be unable to take part in PE, resulting in a loss of credit in that class for the day. Additionally, students should not wear flip flops, crocs, slippers (such as Ugg slippers) or slides to school. Students may wear any PSMS232 hoodie in addition to the regular uniform or a hoodie that is either light blue, beige or navy blue.
If your child is not wearing the daily uniform, will be asked to remove the items in non-compliance and/or a call will be made home for parents to bring to school appropriate clothing. If this is not feasible, students will be unable to partake in school activities for the day.

As we prepare our students to become College and Career ready, it is imperative that our students come to PSMS232 prepared and ready to learn. One of our principles of learning at PS232 is “Integrity” and we thank you in advance for partnering with us to ensure that your child demonstrates integrity by arriving at school on time and wearing the correct uniform. We appreciate your diligence and ongoing support with helping us prepare our young scholars for the future ahead of them.
Thanking you in advance,
Mrs. Naviha Ponce-Paz
Principal

October 1, 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Thursday, October 24th, our school will be hosting a “Race for A Cure” walk to raise awareness and support for metastatic breast cancer. This is a cause that touches so many lives, and we are proud to join the fight by coming together as a school community.
During the event, students will walk 10 times around the perimeter of the school to show their support and commitment to the cause. We are encouraging students to collect donations in the days leading up to the event. In order to show your support, please wear pink on October 24th.
All proceeds raised will be donated to METAvivor, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research (https://metavivor.org/), providing support, and advocating for those living with metastatic breast cancer.
We invite you to support your child in their fundraising efforts and, if you're able, to join us on October 24th to cheer them on! Your generosity and encouragement will go a long way in making a meaningful impact.
Let’s come together as a community to support this important cause and honor those affected.
Thank you for your continued support.
Ms. Carroll and the Race for A Cure Team
